The Galaxy S25 Edge was an unusual launch from Samsung. Just like the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, it signalled a change in strategy by the South Korean firm, but no one really understood it, at least at first. And if a new report is to be believed, it may have just pushed the Galaxy S26+ off the edge.
There were rumors about the Plus model being axed from the Galaxy S lineup, but no one took them seriously. However, it appears that Samsung was serious about it and was testing the waters with the Galaxy S25 Edge. A report from TheElec claims that Samsung firm has decided the three models for the Galaxy S26 lineup, and they are the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Edge, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The Galaxy S26 reportedly has a 6.27-inch screen, while the Galaxy S26 Edge has a 6.66-inch display. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is said to feature a 6.89-inch screen.
Samsung has already offered contracts to South Korean firms DAP and Korea Circuit to develop High Density Interconnect (HDI) circuit boards for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Edge, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. HDI serves as the backbone of a phone, and the report claims that HDIs in Galaxy phones have three substrates: Master, Slave, and Interposer. So, a total of nine components have been ordered for the three upcoming phones.
Chinese firm FastPrint is also reportedly developing boards for the Galaxy S26 series, but it is being considered as the second-tier vendor due to its limited production capacity. It supplied boards to Samsung in the past for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. It is developing boards at its Beijing plant in China. This plant was originally acquired from Japanese firm Ibiden in December 2022.
A recent report revealed that the three models in the Galaxy S26 series are internally codenamed NPA1, NPA2, and NPA3. It also claimed that NPA2 (Galaxy S26 Edge) has a 50MP ultrawide camera. Since the Plus model always had a dedicated telephoto camera, maybe Samsung will equip the Galaxy S26 Edge with a telephoto camera as well.
