We have market performance data on global smartphone sales for the second quarter of 2025 (via Counterpoint Research). The Q2 top-10 chart bears a resemblance to the Q1 chart, and Samsung managed to keep four Galaxy phones in the global ranking.
Interestingly, Apple's iPhone 15 dropped from 4th to 10th place in one quarter. This has allowed two budget Samsung phones — the Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A06 4G — to rise in the ranks and capture the 4th and 5th spots. The S25 Ultra did the opposite.
Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra was the 7th best-selling phone of Q1 2025. However, in the second quarter of the year, the phone lost one spot and dropped to 8th.
Still, market watchers say that the Galaxy S25 Ultra continued to perform well thanks to strong marketing around generative AI features.
Interestingly, the iPhone 16 Plus got pushed out of the top-10 list, but the iPhone 16e joined the fight in 6th place.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has remained the only Samsung flagship in the global top-10 sales ranking.
Things could look a lot different next year. Samsung reportedly intends to revamp its Galaxy S flagship lineup by replacing the Plus with the Edge model and rebranding the base Galaxy S26.
