Samsung Wallet has had the ability to store digital keys for BMW vehicles since a couple of years now, and it's finally becoming compatible with another major German automaker, Mercedes Benz.
The company confirmed today that starting next month, Samsung Wallet will support digital key compatibility for Mercedes Benz vehicles. Galaxy device owners will be able to unlock, lock, and start their vehicles using their Samsung phone.
This feature provides a lot of convenience as users don't have to remove their physical keys or even their smartphone from their pocket. They can gain access to the vehicle and even start it once they're inside, allowing for a frictionless experience.
Another benefit of the digital key is that it can be shared with friends and family through a very simple interface. You can grant or restrict access for the shared digital keys as and when required. All digital keys are securely embedded on the device itself to ensure protection against unauthorized access.
If you end up losing your phone with a digital key, simply lock or delete them using the Samsung Find service. The digital key compatibility will be available on select Mercedes Benz vehicles starting next month. Users will have to register the digital key through the Mercedes me app first, before it can be used with Samsung Wallet.
