Samsung is planning to equip more Galaxy S27 series phones with in-house Exynos chips compared to the Galaxy S26 series. The company is reportedly aiming for 10% higher output than the Exynos 2600 chips.
The South Korean firm has reportedly started wafer production of the Exynos 2700. The chip is designed by Samsung Electronics' System LSI division and fabricated by Samsung Foundry using second-generation 2nm process (SF2P). This new process promises 12% performance increase, 25% lower power consumption, and an 8% smaller chip area compared to the first-generation 2nm process node (SF2).
In 2026, Samsung used the Exynos 2600 chip in the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+ in all markets except for China and North America, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra exclusively used Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor.
Next year, the company is reportedly planning to use the Exynos 2700 in the Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27+ in most countries globally, with the Galaxy S27 Pro also using it in some regions. The Galaxy S27 Ultra will likely end up exclusively using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. As a result, Samsung could raise the share of Exynos chips in Galaxy S series phones this year.

If Samsung can showcase high production yields and maintain cost competitiveness while staying within stable thermal limits and offering performance similar to rival Snapdragon chips, it can increase the utilization of its foundry division, leading to higher profits.
Its success could then attract more clients for Samsung Foundry's 2nm and 5nm process nodes, which will swing the division back into annual profit after years of struggles. It has already bagged major clients, including Tesla, for its 2nm and 4nm processes.
