The Galaxy M53 units in Samsung’s home country, South Korea, where it is known as the Galaxy Quantum 3, are getting a new software update. It brings the May 2026 security patch, which fixes 36 security issues. The update carries firmware version M536SKSSEGZE2.
Usually, after releasing an update first in its home market, Samsung starts offering it in other regions in the next few days and completes the rollout in a couple of weeks. To check its availability in your region, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Samsung launched the Galaxy M53 with One UI 4 (Android 12) in 2022, and promised to offer major updates to the device for four years. So far, the brand has released four new versions of Android to it, and currently, the phone is running on One UI 8 (Android 16).
At the moment, the Galaxy M53 is in its fourth year, and the tech giant is expected to offer one more major OS update to the device, One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2). As for security updates, the phone is on a quarterly update schedule and is expected to receive them for two more years.
