Samsung is expected to launch two new smartwatches in the second half of this year. They are likely called the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. While they might bring improved health and fitness tracking, they won't bring any improvements to the charging speed.

Two Samsung devices with model number SM-L3550 and SM-L5050 were recently spotted in the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) database. Looking at Samsung's track record, these unannounced devices are likely the cellular variants of the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic for the Chinese market.

The certification document reveals that both upcoming smartwatches feature 10W wireless charging and will come bundled with a 5V 2A charging puck. That is similar to the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 6. So, there won't be any improvements to their charging speeds.

The Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic also feature LTE connectivity (for the cellular variants), Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, and NFC. These connectivity features are also similar to the Galaxy Watch 7. Hopefully, the company will bring 5G connectivity with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

Both upcoming smartwatches are expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in early July 2025. Both devices will run Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch software out of the box with some new features, including Antioxidant Index, Gemini AI assistant, Now Bar, Now Brief, new icons and sounds, and a Galaxy Watch Ultra-like squarer case.
