All the confusion over Samsung's choice of chipset for the Galaxy S25 FE over the last few months has finally been cleared. That's thanks to the appearance of the device on a benchmark database. And it's not good news: the Galaxy S25 FE is powered by the Exynos 2400e, or the same processor that powered the Galaxy S24 FE.
The first two Galaxy S FE models used the same chips as their non-FE cousins. Samsung made an exception with the Galaxy S23 FE by equipping it with one-year-old Snapdragon and Exynos chips that were also among the more inefficient ones in recent history. We had hoped that would be a one-time thing, but sadly, that is not the case.
Galaxy S25 FE specs include the same Exynos chip as its predecessor. The Exynos 2400e is a slightly lower clocked version of the Exynos 2400 found inside the Galaxy S24 and S24+ in most countries. Furthermore, it seems Samsung isn't ready to transition to offering 12GB RAM as minimum on FE models yet. The benchmarked Galaxy S25 FE's Exynos 2400e is accompanied by 8GB of RAM.
Samsung's decision to use the Exynos 2400e for the Galaxy S25 FE doesn't come as a surprise. The Snapdragon 8 Elite powering the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge has superior performance and has no equal, which has allowed Qualcomm to charge manufacturers a high price for it.
In fact, Snapdragon chips have become so expensive over the last two years that Samsung had to resort to using an Exynos chip for the Galaxy S24 FE in even the US. Unless we see evidence that suggests otherwise, we can assume the same will be true for the S25 FE.
However, there's one area where the Galaxy S25 FE will beat the other Galaxy S25 models: software updates. Like the Galaxy S21 FE, the Galaxy S25 FE will launch running a newer version of Android and One UI out of the box compared to the other devices in its lineup. Since Samsung supports FE and non-FE variants for the same number of years, the Galaxy S25 FE's final major OS upgrade will be Android 23, not Android 22.
