Google has upgraded most of its apps and services with support for Gemini. However, the brand hasn’t integrated AI into one of its most important products: Chrome. Well, that’s changing now.
At Google I/O 2025, Google has announced that it is upgrading Chrome for Mac and Windows with support for Gemini. Here’s how you can access it and a few of its capabilities.
You will be able to access Gemini in Chrome by clicking the Gemini icon at the top-right corner of the web browser window. Once you do that, you will be greeted with a text-input box where you can type your query about the webpage.
For example, if you are checking out a recipe, you can ask Gemini if you can make it gluten-free. The AI will go through the webpage and provide you with an answer (if there's a possibility, it will modify the recipe and show that to you).
In the same Gemini pop-up, you can ask the AI to perform other tasks, such as remind you about something. You can even ask the AI to carry out a job with one of Gemini-infused services, such as turning off Google Home-supported smart lights.
Currently, Gemini in Chrome can go through only one tab at a time, but in the future, it will be able to go through multiple tabs, allowing you to ask it more complex questions or perform more complex jobs.
For example, if you are searching for a hotel for your vacation, and for that, you have opened websites of multiple hotels, you can ask Gemini which one fits your budget or which one offers the best view.
Gemini in Chrome also offers Gemini Live, a great tool for people who prefer spoken conversations over textual ones. Overall, the addition of Gemini in Chrome makes browsing the web in the app much easier.
