Now Bar is one of the most significant features of One UI 7.0. Google has also been working on a similar feature for the past couple of years, and it has decided to release it with Android 16. It is called Live Updates, and as expected, it will be integrated into Now Bar on devices running One UI 8.0.
Let us check out how Live Updates appear in One UI 8.
A few weeks ago, One UI 8 firmware files were leaked for some high-end Samsung phones. Digging through some of the newer firmware (version ending with ZYEJ) files, developer and tinkerer @DevOfIpos found discovered that Android 16's Live Updates feature has been integrated into the Now Bar in One UI 8.0.
As you can see in the screenshots above, when a test that triggers Live Updates notification on devices running Android 16 is initiated, the notification appears in the Now Bar on Galaxy phones running One UI 8.0. The Live Updates notification appears on the lock screen, the status bar, and the Notifications section.
Tapping the pill-shaped element in the status bar expands it into a full-fledged notification at the top of the phone's screen to display additional information, such as the current status of the activity. This is a perfect integration of Now Bar and Live Updates as far as design and functionality is concerned, and nothing appears out of place.
The Live Updates feature was announced by Google a few days ago. It will be used for apps that are related to ride hailing, parcel tracking, food and package deliveries, and maybe even live sports scores.
