At CES 2025, Samsung-owned Harman Automotive showcased the Ready Display lineup of infotainment systems for cars, some of them powered by the Samsung Neo QLED display technology. Well, the world’s first car with this lineup of products is here.
On Tuesday, India-based Tata Motors launched the Harrier EV SUV in the country. Among the many features it offers, there is Harman Automotive’s infotainment display featuring Samsung’s Neo QLED screen, making it the world’s first car with this display technology.
Samsung’s Neo QLED is an LCD with a mini LED backlight system and a quantum-dot layer. The mini LED technology allows manufacturers to offer a higher number of LEDs behind the pixels, which results in higher local dimming zones. For end users, that translates into deeper blacks, reduced halo effect around objects, and higher brightness. The quantum dot technology further enhances colors. All-in-all, these displays look much better than LCDs with regular LEDs.
The Tata Harrier EV also uses an audio system from Samsung-owned JBL. It offers ten speakers with support for Dolby Atmos. The SUV comes in two configurations. The first one offers a 65 kWh battery pack and a 238 HP electric motor at the rear. The second offers a 75 kWh battery pack with a 238 HP electric motor at the rear and a 158 HP electric motor at the front. The brand has priced the base variant of the EV at INR 21,49,000 (approximately USD 25,020).
