Earlier this month, Samsung launched the seventh generation of its phones with foldable displays, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. On the other hand, its biggest rival in the mobile industry, Apple, hasn’t launched even a single mobile with a foldable screen yet. However, that’s going to change next year when it is expected to launch the first foldable iPhone. 

Well, Samsung was asked how it felt about Apple entering the foldable smartphone market, and Samsung seemed confident that Apple wouldn't be a big threat as the former has many years of experience in the field, which is something that the latter lacks. In fact, Samsung is so confident that Apple won’t beat it in the game that it even welcomed the rival to the market.

Bloomberg recently had an interview with Samsung’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) for MX Business, Won-Joon Choi, where the publication asked him many questions (via 9To5Google). One of them was how Samsung would “keep its edge” when Apple launches its first foldable iPhone. 

Answering the question, Choi said, “We’ve been doing this for many years and we have accumulated a lot of technologies and know-how. And, having another global technology company in this category is good for the industry and is going to be great for the consumers.”

Yes, Samsung has much more experience than Apple at making phones with foldable displays, which means that when the latter launches the first foldable iPhone, it may not be as good as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, either in terms of hardware, software, durability, or after-sales services. However, that may not be the case for too long.

Apple is also a technology leader, and it learns fast. So, the Cupertino-based tech giant may not take too long to catch up with Samsung, and that’s when the real game will begin. So, instead of underestimating Apple, Samsung should up its game, push the boundaries to the limit, and try to stay as far ahead of Apple as it can.
