Samsung Notes is an excellent note-taking app, and it comes pre-loaded on all Samsung laptops, phones, and tablets. So, you can sync your notes and to-do lists across devices. However, the company had limited the app to run only on Samsung's laptops, limiting its usefulness to people who have a Samsung phone but a non-Samsung computer or vice versa. Now, the company seems to have removed that restriction.
And that change has come to other Samsung apps as well.
Samsung has updated the Samsung Notes app on the Windows platform, allowing it to work again on any computer and not just Galaxy Books. Several users have recently reported receiving an update (One UI 6) for the Samsung Notes app after which it has started working on their non-Samsung computers running Windows 10 and Windows 11.
You can install the app from the Microsoft Store. Moreover, to make it work, you need to install the Samsung Account app as well. The Samsung Notes app displays a warning on non-Samsung computers that it is optimized to run on Galaxy Books and other computers might have issues running it.
Others have reported that besides Samsung Notes, other Samsung apps for Windows OS, including Samsung Account and Samsung Gallery are also working on non-Samsung computers running Windows. However, Samsung Find is still not available on non-Samsung Windows devices.
Several users have claimed that they can now run Samsung Notes on their non-Samsung computers. One person said they have now decided to use Samsung Notes again after this change. This is a welcome move from Samsung and can push more people into using Samsung's ecosystem.
Now, Samsung just needs to make an effort and allow Samsung Notes to be accessed via a web browser so that people who have iPhones, iPads, and macOS devices can also use it. That will make Samsung Notes a true rival to Google Keep and other note-taking apps like Craft Docs, Evernote, and Goodnotes.
