We recently got our hands on Samsungâs first internal One UI 9.0 build for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, the company is yet to roll out the stable One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2) update to many older Galaxy devices. In fact, weâre still discovering the new features that One UI 8.5 brings, and now, weâve spotted another one.
One UI 8.5 introduces a new fingerprint-related option called ‘Improve accuracy.' As the name suggests, it rescans your fingerprint to improve the recognition accuracy (via SammyFans). This should make fingerprint recognition more reliable and faster, reducing device unlock times and speeding up fingerprint authentication across the system, including in third-party apps.

You can find this option by going to Settings > Security and privacy > Screen lock and biometrics > Fingerprints on a Galaxy device. Now, tap any of the registered fingerprints and select Improve accuracy. Once you do that, your Galaxy phone will scan your fingerprint ten times to enhance the recognition accuracy.
Currently, this feature seems to be available only in the stable version of the One UI 8.5. As such, this new option is available only for the Galaxy S26 series for now. But Samsung is expected to start rolling out One UI 8.5 to eligible devices in the next few weeks, bringing this feature to more devices very soon.
