Epic Games removed Fortnite and other games from Samsung's Galaxy Store last year. It said that the decision was made in protest to Samsung's “policy of blocking side-loading.” Epic has a history of being vocal against such policies, it had previously launched legal challenges against Google and Apple for the 30% revenue share they took via the Play Store and the App Store.
Apple and Google had both removed Fortnite from their app stores. However, following Epic's partial victory against Apple, Fortnite is once again available for iPhone and iPad users via the App Store. However, Epic seems to be sticking to its guns as far as the Galaxy Store is concerned.
Fortnite actually had a solid love affair with Galaxy devices. When Epic finally released Fortnite for Android back in 2018, it did so by making the popular game a timed-exclusive on the Galaxy Note 9. That Samsung flagship was the only Android device for a period of time on which Fortnite was available.
Samsung also hyped up this partnership by later releasing custom Fortnite skins, emotes, running competitions, and by providing additional incentives to players on its Galaxy devices. Even when Fortnite was booted from the Play Store, it was still available for Galaxy owners through the Galaxy Store.
Epic soured on Samsung when the company introduced the Auto Blocker feature with One UI 6 which stops apps from sideloading. Since this went against Epic's fight to allow side-loading and third-party app stores, the company decided to pull the title from the Galaxy Store.
Fortnite's return to the App Store might have given some players hope that it may return to the Galaxy Store as well. However, since the issue is primarily due to Samsung enabling Auto Blocker by default, it's unlikely that Epic will reverse course here until Samsung does, of which there's a very slim chance.
