Samsung has a long history of being cheeky in its ads, poking fun at Apple and what it views to be the shortcomings of the iPhone against its devices. The company hasn't did that as much as it used to do before, but it's back with a bang for the Galaxy S25 Edge.
It has released two new ads on Instagram, primarily distributed through social media, that highlight how thin and light the Galaxy S25 Edge is against the “other phone,” that's so obviously an iPhone.
When you found out that the Galaxy S25 Edge weighs 163g, did you wonder how many balloons it would take to keep it afloat? Someone over in marketing at Samsung did, so they create an ad to show that the iPhone needs more than 54 balloons, while the Galaxy S25 Edge can remain afloat with less than that.
The other ad highlights the Galaxy S25 Edge's slim profile against the iPhone. It's impressively thin at just 5.8mm while this particular iPhone is considerably thicker. It's all a bit cheeky since there's no direct comparison with these devices, but Samsung won't let the opportunity to have a bit of fun at Apple's expense go.
Apple is going to have an answer to this, even if it doesn't clap back with its own ads, but the company is believed to release an iPhone 17 Air later this year. It follows the same idea, a thin and light device that makes some compromises to achieve a greater objective. The era of slim phones has arrived and Samsung and Apple will both fight for dominance.
