During the Android Show | I/O Edition 2026 keynote presentation, Google revealed several new Android 17 features. The new version of Android focuses on bringing more advanced AI capabilities powered by Gemini Intelligence. It also features an improved UI design, better animations, custom widgets, and much more. Samsung’s Galaxy devices will be among the first to receive most of these features.

A week before the start of the Google I/O 2026 developers conference, Google revealed more features that will debut with the stable version of Android 17. The focus is largely on AI-powered experiences. Gemini Intelligence combines data from a user’s Google account across several products to offer proactive assistance while keeping users in control and maintaining privacy.

Gemini Intelligence has been designed to complete complex tasks involving multiple steps. This automation process can use contextual information from your Google account across various Google services and stock apps, process on-screen content, and run tasks in the background. However, it will still ask for your confirmation before completing the final step, ensuring that you remain in control.

Google says it has fine-tuned this multi-step automation feature for months on the Galaxy S26 series and the Pixel 10 series using popular food ordering and ride-sharing apps to ensure smooth performance.

In the future, the feature could do much more, such as booking front-row tickets for concerts or sports matches, or finding a student’s syllabus in their email and adding relevant books from an online store to the cart. It can even check your shopping list in the Notes app and add those items to your cart in a shopping app like Amazon.

For multi-step automation tasks that run in the background, you can monitor Gemini’s progress through Live Updates in the notifications area. You can also stop a task midway if you want to.

Starting in late June 2026, the Google Chrome web browser will be able to help users compare, research, and summarize content across the web. You can ask Gemini inside Chrome to gather information from multiple open tabs to help complete tasks.

This feature is called Chrome Auto Browse. It can browse websites and take actions on your behalf. For example, it can book a doctor’s appointment or reserve a parking spot, saving you time on repetitive tasks.

The improved Autofill system in Android 17 can fill out forms across the web more intelligently. It can retrieve relevant information from Gemini’s Personal Intelligence, which extracts personal data from several Google services, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Search, and Google Workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

It can also import information from apps and services connected to your Gemini account, including Samsung Calendar, Samsung Notes, Samsung Reminder, Samsung Gallery, Spotify, and WhatsApp. This should make filling out online forms significantly easier.

Speech-to-text has been available on Android devices for more than a decade, but it still has limitations in natural conversations. People often say filler words such as “ah,” “oh,” and “umm” while gathering their thoughts. Google’s new Rambler system can remove those unnecessary words and turn spoken sentences into polished text.

Rambler is powered by Gemini Intelligence and is designed to understand what people actually mean when speaking casually in natural language. It even supports multiple languages simultaneously. Google says speech is processed in real time and is not stored anywhere.

From what we have seen, Google is using more blurred UI elements throughout Android 17. The system will also offer various color presets that can be applied across the interface. Additionally, there will be a slider that lets users fine-tune the exact color and intensity they want throughout the UI.

Besides these features, Google is expected to introduce even more AI capabilities, feature additions, and UI changes to Android 17 when it launches in June or July this year, starting with the Pixel 11 series, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8.
